March is Ag Recognition Month

 

Kossuth/Palo Alto County Economic Development Corporation, along with the Ag Committee and area ag-related businesses, are hosting an Ag Education Day on Thursday, March 23, 2017 from 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. at the Wild Rose Casino in Emmetsburg and will include lunch. Registration begins at 8:00 a.m.

 

The theme for this year’s event is “Ag Education Day”.  The event will feature topics on how farmers can save money and maximize their return on investment, the opportunity for aquaculture in Iowa, understanding the difference between generations and what they bring working together, and important economic indicators for the farm sector. Guest speakers include:

 

  • Hefty Brothers, Darren and Brian. Hosts of Ag PhD TV and Radio
  • Brenda Clark Hamilton, MA, Ed., Fresh Coffee: Professional Growth Programs
  • Ernie Goss, Ph.D., MacAllister Chair and Professor of Economics at Creighton and Research Faculty at California State University, Fresno
  • Dr. Elwynn Taylor, Professor of Ag Meteorology and Extension Climatologist - Iowa State University

 

Brochures featuring highlights of the event are available at area cooperatives, banks, libraries, implement dealerships, city halls, and the ISU Extension Offices in Algona and Emmetsburg. A registration form is included in the brochure which can be filled out and mailed along with a check made payable to Kossuth/Palo Alto County Economic Development Corporation, 106 S. Dodge Street, Suite 210, Algona, IA  50511.  You may also register by calling Kossuth/Palo Alto County Economic Development Corporation at (515) 295-7979.  Individuals may also register at the door the day of the event.  Cost for the event is $30 per person through Feb. 28th.  After March 1st, the registration fee will be $35 per person.  Cost for students is $15.  Please visit the Kossuth and Palo Alto County Economic Development websites at:  www.kossuth-edc.com or the Palo Alto County website at: www.paloaltoiowa.com for updated information on Ag Education Day.
