The Kossuth/Palo Alto Economic Development Corporation is pleased to report that Maureen Elbert, Executive Director participated in the Iowa Area Development Group (IADG) 2012 Partners Forum, held November 1-2 in West Des Moines, IA.

Attendees included representatives from Iowa's rural electric cooperatives and independent telecommunication companies, economic development organizations and chambers of commerce, state and federal entities, higher education and more.

A Pre Forum Workshop was held on the morning of November 1 and served as a "Rapid Resource Panel," as six different partners presented information on their respective program in 15 minute intervals. Topics covered the Center for Industrial Research and Service (CIRAS) and ISU Extension and Outreach; Iowa Network Services (INS)/IADG Partnership and Ripple Effect Program; FIND (Fulfilling Iowa's Need for Dentists; New Market Tax Credits, Community Foundations and Tax Increment Financing.

The Partners Forum began in the afternoon and featured Keynote Speaker Sarah Miller Caldicott, a great grandniece of Thomas Edison, who presented Using Edison's Five Competencies of Innovation to Build Competitive Advantage. Entrepreneurial, community and business marketing panels provided key information about planning, positioning, supporting and implementing strategies to move Iowa businesses and communities forward. Iowa Secretary of Agriculture, Bill Northey provided a positive agricultural outlook. Dr. David Kolzow presented an important message of striving for professional excellence by determining the correct measurable results. Capstone speaker, DMACC President Rob Denson then inspired the group to take action in leading economic development in our community.

The IADG Partners Forum is an educational and networking event held every two years. IADG was established in 1985 to help its utility sponsors and their communities promote and foster economic development. The organization and its utility sponsors have been instrumental in facilitating over 1,700 projects, $6 billion in investment and creating over 40,000 jobs for Iowa.
